The San Francisco Sunset District is a large neighborhood on the city's western edge. It runs from the western end of Cole Valley to Ocean Beach. This local district is a gateway to Golden Gate Park. It is also home to several lovely tiled stairs, small parks with amazing hilltop views, and dozens of popular restaurants and bars.
The Sunset District encompasses the west-central section of the city, south of Golden Gate Park, and it’s the largest neighborhood in San Francisco. West of 19th Avenue is considered Outer Sunset and east is Inner Sunset. Some residents will also argue that the area between 19th Avenue and Sunset Boulevard is actually Central Sunset.
