Susan Melinda Yeagley was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. The younger of two daughters, Susan left the South at 18 to attend the University of Southern California. She earned her B.A. degree from USC’s famed film school, where she graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the National Honor Society and Dean’s List.
