It keeps the player on their toes with the random events that could occur, and has a large variety of things you could do; fishing, building, and fighting enemies, and you could invite friends to join in multiplayer.
Swiftness Potions are common and easily brewed, and sharply increase movement speed (for a limited time). With boots, they allow reaching sprint speed more quickly. The Aglet and Anklet of the Wind improve movement speed by 5% and 10%, respectively. Both stack with each other, and even with a Swiftness Potion.

Terraria is a sandbox game, but that does not mean it is without structure or change. The game progression presents a cyclic pattern: The player explores a new (or changed) section of the world. This area offers new dangers, especially new enemies, but those enemies also drop new resources.
