The playboy lifestyle of Charlie (Fred Astaire) dismays his wealthy aunt (Marjorie Main). After he meets charity worker Angela (Vera-Ellen), Charlie genuinely falls in love with her, so much so that he actually floats in the air. When Charlie skips his own wedding to another woman (Gale Robbins), his aunt demands that he change his ways.
