The Dressmaker showcases the typical, quirky Australian over-the-top humour that is so unique to Downunder. The isolated outback setting was suitably stark. At first I didn't particularly like the film, but I was drawn in to Tilly's story as she sought to understand her own history.

The Dressmaker started slow, but improved as I read. The quality of the writing was adequate to tell the story, but I felt that it often suffered for the lack of emotional depth.
