The Family Treasure is the tenth episode of the second season of Quantum Leap, and the twenty-eighth episode of the series overall. It first aired on February 6, 2024.
A cursed treasure hunt draws Ben to Mexico in 1953, putting him between two estranged siblings struggling with their father's legacy. As they navigate a series of lethal obstacles, Ben finds the real challenge is repairing this broken family's bond.
In the present, Tom and Addison announce that not only that they are getting married, but that they are doing it that evening. Ian regrets not being able to plan a wedding, but Addison says that planning a wedding once was enough. Then Ian gets a lock on Ben. The group is supportive, somewhat halfheartedly, but Tom is worried that he is rushing her. Addison says that the past year has taught her not to wait to live her life.
1953: Ben leaps into Nadia Mollick, youngest sister of three, at the reading of their father Salim's will in Texas. The oldest daughter, Sarah, gets a vase. Dina, who goes by Dean, gets a baseball glove. Ben receives a ship in a bottle. Sarah is bitter about the simple inheritance, but Dean observes that all of their father's money went into "the search." Their bickering bumps Ben, and he drops the ship in a bottle. The shattered remains contain a rolled up map. All three of them have fragments of the map. Dean suggests it's to the Treasure of San Patricio, which their father spent most of his life chasing.
Addison appears. Ben is annoyed that he leapt before he could warn Hannah in the previous leap. Sarah, who is married with two kids, and Dean, who bounces from job to job, bicker about whether to go after the treasure. In the original timeline, Dean disappears in Mexico a week later when she pursues the treasure alone.
Ben agrees to go along and says their Dad wanted them to go together. Sarah, being practical, blames the treasure for him being an absent father. The executor, Mr. Wells, a good friend of Salim, is confident the treasure is real, and worth about $40 million. That brings Sarah around, and they board a bus to Mexico.
Ben notes that something is on Addison's mind, but Dean interrupts before she can explain. Ben and Dean figure that the first clue leads to a graveyard. They stop at a cantina for a drink.
While Ian works on the treasure clues, Jenn interrupts to talk about the engagement. She is supportive, to Ian's surprise, because Ben is years away from coming home and Addison deserves a life. Rachel calls in a panic to say that her boss, Gideon Ridge, knows about the firmware update, and it's a matter of time before he finds everything. Ian fears that they and Rachel will lose their jobs and go to jail. Jenn says it's time to tell Magic.
