The Fourth Wise Man is a 1985 American television film directed by Michael Ray Rhodes and starring Martin Sheen, Eileen Brennan and Alan Arkin. [1] [2] The story was adapted from Henry van Dyke Jr.'s 1895 short story, The Other Wise Man. [3]
Based on Henry van Dyke's classic, The Story of the Other Wise Man, this fictional story set in Biblical times is told in gently comic terms.

Carrying three precious jewels to give to the baby Messiah, Artaban and his reluctant servant Orontes set off to join the caravan of the three other wise men. They miss the caravan, but Artaban continues the search for his King, always one step behind.
Brief Synopsis. Convinced that the Messiah has come, Artaban, a "magus" (an old Persian word meaning wise man, holy man, magician, sorcerer), sets off in search of the baby Jesus. But every adventure that brings him closer spiritually means another delay in reaching his goal physically.
