Review by Nakul ★★★½ 1. Even if the predictable ending lets it down a bit, The Gift is still a pretty good supernatural southern gothic mystery, steeped in sadness and grief. A few trademark Sam Raimi touches, but he's surprisingly restrained here. It's written by Billy Bob Thornton, based on the psychic experiences of Thornton's mother.
