( 2009-04-19) The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is a television comedy-drama series, produced by the BBC in conjunction with HBO, and based on the novels of the same name by Alexander McCall Smith. The novels focus on the story of a detective agency opened by Mma Ramotswe and her courtship with the mechanic Mr. J. L. B. Matekoni.

Pilot After launching Botswana's first female-run detective agency, Precious Ramotswe investigates cases involving a missing boy, a missing finger, a cheating husband and a dubious daddy.- The Big Bonanza When a young boy named Wellington comes into the agency looking for work, Precious hires him to hand out flyers. Meanwhile, she also investigates the mysteries of a disturbed dentist, a disappearing dog and a missing husband.
- Poison Precious visits an orphanage, where a woman tells her she's worried about her father. A doctor asks Precious to look into the deaths of three patients who all died on a Friday at 2pm. A wealthy landowner hires her to investigate a suspected poisoning.

The series is named after the first novel, published in 1998. Twenty-four novels have been published in the series between 1998 and 2022. Mma Precious Ramotswe is the main character in this series.
