The Parent Trap is a 1961 Disney feature film starring Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara, and Brian Keith in a story about teenage twins and their divorced parents. It is based on the 1949 German children's novel Das doppelte Lottchen (translated as Lisa and Lottie in 1962; republished as The Parent Trap in 2014) by Erich Kästner.
Synopsis. Sharon McKendrick (Hayley Mills) arrives at Camp Inch from Boston, Massachusetts. It isn't long before she encounters Susan Evers (Hayley Mills), whom Sharon's camp-mates notice seems to resemble her. An insult by Susan soon leads to a rivalry between the two girls, ending with a fight during a dance at the camp.
The Parent Trap is a 1961 American romantic comedy film written and directed by David Swift. It stars Hayley Mills (in a dual role) as a pair of teenage twins plotting to reunite their divorced parents by switching places with each other. Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith play the parents.
