A film based on the true story of Louis Zamperini, a US Olympic athlete who survived a plane crash in the Pacific Ocean and a Japanese prisoner of war camp. The film has a powerful opening sequence, but the second half lacks the urgency and grit of the first half, and the film is let down by its Hollywood-style production values.
