  2. Specimens and scientific papers. Flynn is considered to be one of the pioneers of research into the reproductive biology of marsupials and monotremes. He published an important work on the early cleavage of the monotreme egg, and was awarded a DSc in 1921 for his work on the embryology of marsupials.
