Mar 19, 2024 · Thomas Fitzgerald, 10th earl of Kildare (born 1513, London, Eng.—died Feb. 3, 1537, London) was the leader of a major Irish rebellion against King Henry VIII of England. The failure of the uprising ended the Fitzgerald family’s hereditary viceroyalty of Ireland and led to the tightening of English control over the country.
