Thurston, which previously housed about 1,100 students, making it the largest residence hall on campus, became a target of criticism in recent years due to outdated facilities, mold and frequent leaks.
The renovated hall would house approximately 825 students in doubles and singles as well as faculty-in-residence and residential life staff. Under the current plans, students would move into a new Thurston no later than fall 2022, and potentially as early as 2021.
Completed for fall 2022 move-in, the Thurston Hall renovation provides students with a healthy and modern home for living and learning while still fostering what Thurston does best — build community for GW generations of students.
