Tom Donlinger, a drummer who recorded and performed with artists such as Van Morrison, Brian Auger and Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead), has died. After struggling with pancreatic cancer for a long time, Tom passed away at age 63 on April 20.
Tom Donlinger's ability to change style from R&B to jazz to fusion to C&W over the years made him a valuable commodity. He successfully worked in four major markets: Chicago, LA, San Francisco, and the Denver area.

When he was laying down the beat to 60s rock anthems with The Newports he was also studying percussion at the American Conservatory of Music.
