Torpedo Factory Art Center is housed in a 100-year-old converted munitions plant. It all began the day after Armistice Day, November 12, 1918, marking the official end of World War I. Ironically, on that day, the U.S. Navy began construction on the original building, the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station.
The Art League offers classes for children ages 5 and up in areas such as cartooning, ceramics, clay animation, and introduction to art. In our Art Fun-damentals class, students 5 and older explore texture, line, shape, and color and are introduced to working with a range of materials.
Managed by the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts, the Torpedo Factory Art Center continues to be a must-see cultural icon for Alexandria. Meet artists at work and find one-of-a-kind keepsakes and statement pieces to take home.
