After admission, the college provides guidance to help each student determine an appropriate field of study according to individual abilities and interests.
Founded in 1964, Triton College, a comprehensive public community college, is located in western Cook County and serves the near western suburbs of Chicago. Triton is one of more than 48 community colleges in the state of Illinois.
Triton College opened in September 1965 and held classes at several of the high schools in its district. About 1,200 students were enrolled, and full-time in-district tuition was US$5 per semester hour. Construction on the permanent campus began in June 1967 with the Technology building and proceeded in phases.
