Jul 9, 2021 · By Steve Newton. When Vivian Campbell was a kid he went to see Rory Gallagher at Belfast’s Ulster Hall, then rushed home to grab his guitar and imitate the underrated Irish guitar hero. Campbell’s still copping those licks, though he doesn’t get away with it in his current band, Def Leppard.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Joan Osborne offer guest performances. Gibbon's song "Willin' for Satisfaction" is the best of the bunch, closing out the record on a high note. Blues covers albums may be coming around more often then they should be but when the results are this good it's hard to argue against that trend.
Joan Osborne thankfully comes in on vocals to add some life to the album. It's not really Jack Bruce and Cream, but I think it's an important piece of this album considering the rest of it. The harmonica adds some spice, but it's too standard to burn the tongue on the way down.

May 23, 2010 · Rule number two: have fun and fly by the seat of your pants. With wish-list players like Terry Bozzio on drums, and Billy Gibbons and Joan Osborne making guest appearances, the sessions were inspired and the end result is "Two Sides Of If."

Jan 28, 2007 · It rocks! The guitar tone is incredible throughout the whole CD. The presence of ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons is mere icing on the cake, as both guitarists complement each other perfectly. Osborne sang lead vocals on the cover of the Willie Dixon-penned "Spoonful" on Vivian Campbell's solo album Two Sides of If. She also provided some vocals for "Wayfaring Stranger" on Spearhead 's 1997 album Chocolate Supa Highway .
