American engineer Johnny Munroe (John Wayne) is hired by South American tycoon Frederick Alexander (Cedric Hardwicke) to bore a tunnel for a new railroad in the Andes Mountains. On the job, he falls for Alexander's beautiful daughter, Maura (Laraine Day).
