Conductor Claude Eastman (Dudley Moore) marries Daniella (Nastassja Kinski), a younger woman. When Claude goes on tour, his buddy Norman (Albert Brooks) misunderstands his request to make sure Daniella stays faithful and hires private eye Jess Keller (Richard B. Shull) to tail her.
