United Artists Classics. In 1981, United Artists Classics, which formerly re-released library titles, was turned into a first-run art film distributor by Nathaniel T. Kwit, Jr. Tom Bernard was hired as the division director, as well as handling theatrical sales, and Ira Deutchman was hired as head of marketing.

United Artists Classics was an art-house division of United Artists. Set up in 1980 by Michael Barker, Tom Bernard, and Marcie Bloom, it released foreign films and first-run reissues of United Artists films. When MGM purchased United Artists in 1981, it was preceded by MGM/UA Entertainment Co. (also referred to as "MGM/UA Classics").
- “Broken Blossoms” (1919) Several months after Griffith, Chaplin, Pickford, and Fairbanks founded United Artists, the studio released its first movie: “Broken Blossoms.”
- “Pollyanna” (1920) Mary Pickford’s first United Artists release was the 1920 drama “Pollyanna,” in which the acting icon starred as an orphan whose optimistic outlook on life brings change to her antagonistic hometown.
- “The Mark of Zorro” (1920) Douglas Fairbanks cemented his status as cinema’s iconic swashbuckler with the one-two punch of “The Mark of Zorro” and “Robin Hood.”
