Uno (/ ˈ uː n oʊ /; from Spanish and Italian for 'one'), stylized as UNO, is a proprietary American shedding-type card game originally developed in 1971 by Merle Robbins in Reading, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, that housed International Games Inc., a gaming company acquired by Mattel on January 23, 1992.

The goal in UNO is to get rid of your cards by matching color or number with the card on the table. The first player that gets rid of all their cards wins the round. Deal. At the start of a round each player is dealt 7 cards, one at a time. The remaining cards are placed face-down in the middle of the table.
