Mar 22, 2024 · Historically though, the name ‘the Canadian’ actually dates back to 1955, when Canada Pacific (CP) first introduced a transcontinental train between Montréal and Vancouver, and gave it ‘the Canadian’ name. When VIA Rail acquired the service over two decades later, they decided to keep the name as-is, and we continue to use it today.
