Vittorio De Sica ( / də ˈsiːkə / də SEE-kə, Italian: [vitˈtɔːrjo de ˈsiːka]; 7 July 1901 – 13 November 1974) was an Italian film director and actor, a leading figure in the neorealist movement.

Vittorio De Sica was an Italian film director and actor who first found fame as a matinee idol and who later was a major figure in the Italian Neorealist movement. He directed four masterpieces of the genre, including The Bicycle Thief (1948), which earned an Academy Award for best foreign film.
