He was the eldest son of Duke Bolesław III Wrymouth, and is the progenitor of the Silesian Piasts. He was an active governor of the country and is famous for his connection with the Holy Roman Empire and the Kingdom of Germany, thanks to his marriage with Agnes of Babenberg.
