However, I recently came across War, Inc. John, who also co-wrote and co-produced it, said it's a spiritual cousin/informal sequel to Grosse Pointe Blank. I decided to watch the movie after hearing what it was about, despite the negative reception it received back in 2008. Overall, it's terrible but also bizarre.

Don't mistake "War Inc." for a sharply chiseled satire or a brainy comedy full of inside jokes for news buffs. It isn't. This is an old-fashioned screwball comedy, with ridiculously coincidental plot twists, stock characters (given some depth in fun performances by John Cusack, Joan Cusack, Marisa Tomei and Hillary Duff) and a straightforward approach to the political content.
With a script (and musical numbers!) co-written by Cusack, War, Inc. is a stingingly angry, high-speed satire that expends enough ammo for two and a half movies.
