Ward Bond was a gruff, burly American character actor who appeared in hundreds of films and TV shows, often in supporting roles. He was known for his roles in John Ford's films, such as The Searchers, Rio Bravo and Wagon Train. He also appeared in John Wayne's films, such as The Quiet Man and Rio Bravo. He died of a heart attack in 1960.
