- Unplug any cords and accessories. The first step in preparing your TV for a major move is unplugging and organizing its external cords. In addition to the TV’s power cord, you could also have half a dozen other cables that you’ll need to keep tabs on.
- Wrap the TV Screen. This is a step that’s often overlooked during the moving process. It’s essential to protect your TV screen from scratches that could be caused by movers or packing material.
- Find a Suitable Moving Box. We all have that one person in our lives who insists on keeping the original packaging for everything. And in situations like these, holding onto old boxes and styrofoam sleeves can really come in handy.
- Secure the TV Inside the Moving Truck. Once the television is padded and boxed, it’s time to get it loaded into your car, van, or moving truck.
- Choose the right box. Begin by measuring the TV's dimensions (width, height and depth), accounting for any protruding parts like stands or mounts. Add a few extra inches (or centimeters) to each dimension to allow space for packaging materials like bubble wrap, foam or padding.
- Wrap with care. Prepare a spacious workspace. Ensure the surface is clear of debris, sharp items, or anything that could harm the TV. Take a sheet of bubble wrap that's larger than the TV and gently position it over the screen, ensuring it's centered and doesn't touch the screen directly.
- Secure accessories. Gather all the accessories you want to pack with your TV — e.g., remotes, HDMI cables and power cords. Organize these into groups and label them as needed.
- Place the TV in the box. Seal the bottom of the box with packing tape and put crumpled packing paper or foam padding inside to cushion and support the TV.
