Claire Spencer ( Michelle Pfeiffer) moves to Vermont with her husband, renowned scientist Dr. Norman Spencer ( Harrison Ford ), after a serious car accident that leaves gaps in her memory. Combined with her daughter Caitlin's ( Katharine Towne) departure for college, Claire is profoundly affected.
Claire and Norman have a seemingly perfect marriage, but when Claire starts hearing voices and seeing ghostly images, Norman writes them off as delusion.
