So many of these hair metal bands were platinum and gold selling acts in their heyday, so hard to say they were obscure, but bands that I think are underrated now would be Dokken, Britny Fox (especially the 2nd record, Boys in Heat), LA Guns, Bulletboys, and Kix. For me, maybe the most underrated (and a bit obscure) band would be Enuff Z'Nuff.
