William V, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. William V ( German: Wilhelm) (13 February 1602 – 21 September 1637), a member of the House of Hesse, was Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel from 1627 to 1637. Having come to rule in unfavorable circumstances and in the midst of the Thirty Years' War, he continued to suffer losses of territory and wealth.

After about 1.4 hour train ride from Frankfurt Hbf to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe Bhf and a short taxi ride from the station, we arrived at the road side of Schloss Wilhelmshöhe (Wilhelmshohe Castle) inside Bergpark.

Nov 12, 2016 · Construction of the mountain park commenced at the end of the 17 th century following the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel’s behest and took around 150 years to complete. The park is guarded by a copper Hercules monument, placed atop of an octagon and standing at the highest point of Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. The summit measures 526.2 metres (1,726 ft).
