Bobby Riggs (Ron Silver), a middle-aged former tennis champion, challenges female players to exhibition matches as a way to make money and generate publicity for himself. The chauvinistic Riggs is riding high after he defeats Margaret Court (Matt Letscher), a top-ranked player. Then he publicly challenges another woman, Billie Jean King (Holly Hunter).
