(6 March 1917 - 3 January 2005, USA) 'The Spirit' (19 September 1948). Will Eisner was one of the pioneers of American comic books and graphic novels. As one half of the studio Eisner & Iger, he and Jerry Iger co-created and scripted many popular 1930s adventure comics, including 'Sheena, Queen of the Jungle' (1937) and 'Doll Man' (1939).
Released as Will Eisner's The Spirit Archives, the series also features introductions from eminent comic creators and critics. The archives are now complete and run for 26 volumes. It also features The Spirit daily newspaper strips and any Spirit material published since the initial 1940-1952 run.
