Zerelda Mimms James was the first cousin of Jesse James and the wife of the notorious outlaw. She married Jesse in 1874, nine years after their engagement, and bore him four children. She suffered from his death in 1882 and from the financial and emotional hardships that followed. She died in 1900 and was buried next to him in Missouri.
