Sep 24, 2018 · In 1953, the 356 1300S was becoming quite a powerhouse with 71hp (SAE), due at least in part to the increase in compression ratio, now measuring 8.2:1. This engine was installed in 356s from 1953 through 1955. As in years before, the standard gearbox was a Porsche Type 519 unit with a final drive ratio of 4.375:1.
