Venue description: The Adelaide Oval nestled across the backdrop of magnificence of glorious gardens and swaying trees makes for a scenic ground. Redevelopment of the ground between 2008 and 2014 at a cost of $575 million that involved constructing two new stands at the Southern and Eastern sides of the ground have perhaps taken away the blissful facade surrounding the stadium.
Adelaide Oval dimensions were originally 190m x 125m, unusually long and unusually narrow for an Australian cricket/football ground – a legacy from its days at a cycle racing venue. With the 2011-14 redevelopment, the oval dimensions changed to 183m x 134m, more suitable for Australian football that used 167m x 124m.
