Jan 23, 2017 · Admiralty, second largest island in the massive Alexander Archipelago, dominates the northern half of the Panhandle. The island is more or less half way between Juneau and Sitka. It is 96 miles long, northeast to south, and about 30 miles in width at its widest.
The Admiralty Islands are an archipelago group of 40 islands in the Bismarck Archipelago, to the north of New Guinea in the South Pacific Ocean. [1] These are also sometimes called the Manus Islands, after the largest island.
There are two main bear observation areas, a 15-foot tall viewing tower or the sand spit at the estuary of Pack Creek. It’s a one-mile walk to the viewing tower, on a trail through the forest. The sand spot is a ¼ mile walk from where the plane drops you off.
