Adolf of Denmark or Adolf of Holstein-Gottorp (25 January 1526 –1 October 1586) was the first Duke of Holstein-Gottorp from the line of Holstein-Gottorp of the House of Oldenburg . He was the third son of King Frederick I of Denmark and his second wife, Sophie of Pomerania.

Johann Adolf (1575- 1616) Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp from 1590, Prince-Archbishop of Bremen 1589–1596 and Prince-Bishop of Lübeck 1586–1607 both as Lutheran Administrator. Married Princess Augusta of Denmark (1580 – 1639) daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark.
He was a third son of Duke Adolf of Holstein-Gottorp and his wife Christine of Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel). He became the first Lutheran Administrator of the Prince-Bishopric of Lübeck (1586–1607) and the Administrator of the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen (1589–1596). He became the Duke after the deaths of his two elder brothers.
