I will be visiting Paris June 14-18 with my wife and 3 kids 16/14/10 and am curious how critical it is to make advance dinner reservations. We have no ambition of dining at Michelin 3 starred restaurants and would generally prefer to see where the day takes us.

Happens all of the time. We just experienced this with AA. Booked one flight time for them to shift their schedule about a month later. Led to a much shorter layover and an additional weather delay caused a missed connection and an overnight in CLT with no offer of AA to pay for a hotel. Airline customer service is shit, regardless of airline.
