Alagoas ( Brazilian Portuguese: [alaˈɡoɐs] ⓘ ), officially State of Alagoas, is one of the 27 federative units of Brazil and is situated in the eastern part of the Northeast Region. It borders: Pernambuco (N and NW); Sergipe (S); Bahia (SW); and the Atlantic Ocean (E). Its capital is the city of Maceió.

Alagoas je tri vijeka bio dio kapetanije Pernambuko, da bi nezavisna kapetanija postao 1817. Razlog tome je Pernambukanska revolucija, zbog koje je kralj Žoao IV kaznio Pernambuko oduzimanjem dijela njegove južne teritorije.
