The Albertina is a museum in the Innere Stadt (First District) of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings.
Situated in the very heart of Vienna's City center, the Albertina houses one of the most important art collections of the world. Founded in 1776, the Museum today owns masterpieces by Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Duerer, Rembrandt etc. These collections are presented in temporary exhibitions.

How to get to the Albertina. The museum is very central, sitting between the Hofburg palace complex and the State Opera House, close to the ancient Augustinerkirche church, and above the Albrechtsbrunnen wall fountain. You pass it, for example, on my suggested self-guided walking tour of Vienna.
Its latest exhibition collection presents masterpieces of the Modern, spanning Monet to Picasso and Baselitz. As the largest Habsburg residential palace, the Albertina dominates the southern tip of the Imperial Palace on one of the last remaining fortress walls in Vienna.
The Albertina in Vienna houses one of the largest print rooms in the world, and used to be the biggest Habsburg residential palace, inhabited by one of Maria Theresa's daughters. The collection, which started in 1776, boasts over a million prints and tens of thousands of paintings dating all the way back to the 15th century.
