Alex Stern (b. 1987) lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his MFA in Painting from Boston University. In 2020, he was awarded the Kahn Prize and the Joseph Ablow Me- morial Painting Prize from Boston University.

Stern was a member of the art department of the San Francisco Chronicle for eight years. During 1935-44 he worked in NYC on art commissions. Upon returning to California in 1945, he established a studio-home and printing plant in San Mateo where he produced Christmas cards, etchings, and prints.
