The Vulgate (/ ˈ v ʌ l ɡ eɪ t,-ɡ ə t /; Biblia Vulgāta, Latin pronunciation: [bɪbˈli.a wʊlˈɡaːta]) is a late-4th-century Latin translation of the Bible.It was to become the Catholic Church's officially promulgated Latin version of the Bible during the 16th century as the Sixtine Vulgate then as the Clementine Vulgate; the Vulgate is still presently used in the Latin Church.
