Alison Louise Balsom, OBE (born 7 October 1978) is an English trumpet soloist, arranger, producer, and music educator. Alison Balsom is a passionate advocate of the importance of music education. She studied trumpet at the Paris Conservatoire, and with Håkan Hardenberger. She also studied, and is now an honorary fellow at, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Balsom holds honorary doctorates from Leicester University and Anglia Ruskin Univeristy.

- Born in Hertfordshire. Alison Louise Balsom was born in Hertfordshire on October 7th 1978, and spent her early life in the town of Royston. Her father, Bill, was a builder, while her mother worked to place children with foster families.
- Early interest. She showed very early promise with the trumpet, taking lessons at school and playing in the Royston Town Band. Alison still returns to perform Christmas carols with the band every year.
