But when he realized kidnapping could land him in prison, Hollywood took drastic measures — and had the 15-year-old murdered. Ben was shocked.
The feature film Alpha Dog, based on the events leading up to the murder of Nicholas Markowitz and directed by Nick Cassavetes, was released in 2006. In the film, the character modeled after Markowitz was named Zack Mazursky. The role was played by Anton Yelchin, who, like Markowitz, was also raised in the San Fernando Valley.
