May 3, 2016 · Trout Fishing. It sounds simple, but the best game plan for trout fishing in the Alton Baker Canoe Canal is to fish when there are trout there. The canal typically has been stocked for much of the year, often at least every other week in the early season and then almost every week from mid-spring, throughout summer and into the middle of fall.
I had a little time, so a quick trip for some trout fishing seemed like a good idea. Fished for about 45 mins and caught a couple fish.

The canoe canal is open to fishing all year and is located within Alton Baker Park. A 4-acre pond at the midpoint of the canal is a good spot, as is directly behind Kowloon Restaurant. However, the canal can be fished all along its two-mile length from Day Island Road in Eugene to Aspen Street in Springfield.
