Curved eaves lead your eyes across the façade, and its beauty is as grand as the horrors that occurred here. Mid-November, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family in the home.
After the DeFeo’s brutal murder, the house was sold to the Lutz family, their three children, and a wacky Labrador who apparently could not keep them safe. The Lutz decided to have their new home blessed after hearing about the previous owners, so they invited Father Ralph J. Pecoraro to do the deed.
The Amityville Horror House. This house was made famous in the 1977 book by Jay Anson and its related hit movie. The event that started it all off was Ronald DeFeo’s 1974 mass murder of the family at 108 Ocean Avenue (which was then 112 Ocean Avenue).
The Amityville haunted house still stands to this day at it's original location of 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville NY 11701. Many people and families over the generations have lived in the large Colonial Dutch Style House.
