3 days ago · Re: Ampeg SB-12 hum. « Reply #3 on: September 25, 2008, 10:38:20 PM ». Yes, under-biasing would cause hum. Most Ampegs don't have a bias pot, so the fixed resistors in the bias circuit must be adjusted if necessary. Also, if the output tubes are not properly balanced, the amp may hum.
