Ana Gasteyer is an actress and comedian, who has played the role of Elphaba in Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. Gasteyer was the original Elphaba in the Chicago cast from July 13, 2005 to January 24, 2006 and was replaced by Kristy Cates.
On June 24, 2005, Gasteyer originated the role of Elphaba in the Chicago sit-down production of the musical Wicked, alongside Kate Reinders as Glinda. The production opened July 13, 2005. Gasteyer was nominated for a Jefferson Award for her performance. [13]
