On January 26, 2006, the team announced, effective with the 2006–07 season, a name change to the Anaheim Ducks. This included logo and team color changes which were unveiled at a ceremony five months later.

After briefly considering Condors and Bears, the club ultimately decided to keep the heritage of the team in their identity, removing the Mighty and going forward with the name Anaheim Ducks.
